‘THE FOX AND HOUND’ BY GUY MCKINLEY
These brilliant cushion designs were created with Guy Mckinley after a chat Simion had with him, asking if he had anything that may tie in with his projects here at Reloved Works.
He said he had a few sketches of foxes in various poses in armchairs. Perfect.
If you’re not familiar with Guy’s work, he is an incredibly talented freelance illustrator who has been involved in lots of diverse projects, using his recognisable style and character work.
His work has appeared in several books, and he has collaborated with many recognisable clients and brands including Disney, Adidas, Diesel, Coca-Cola, Salford City Council, and the British Heart foundation to name just a few. Guy also takes part in live exhibitions and gallery shows with his more personal paintings and illustrative work.
One of Simion’s favourite pieces in his own home is a Guy Mckinley print inspired by one of both his and Guy’s all time favourite movies, Stand By Me. It has lots of little references to the movie and was part Guy’s movie inspired exhibition, where it appeared as an alternate VHS cover for the film.
As for our Reloved X Guy Mckinley collaborative cushions, the brilliant Fox and Hound characters were orginally produced by Guy as risograph prints. A few months later, following the success of the prints, he came back to the fox and felt he looked like he was part of something bigger, like his expression was reacting to something. So Guy drew the female hound dog as a response and reverse of the classic fox and hound. She, an effortless beatnik and he, a studious canine in awe of her.
Guy’s beautifully colourful work with these striking characters make an interesting couple, the colours popping on the fabric as much as they did as a print.
